Part Hassle... Part Fun ;)

I made a punny...

I'm having trouble with some parts that came in the mail yesterday for the violin repair.  Most of the pieces were cracked and or chipped.  I can't use these parts...   I shouldn't be expected to, either.  >.< This is what happens when you buy parts cheaply on line.  Well, that's not fair.  I've gotten many other things on line w/o problems.  I'm just getting burned out from all the stupid packages that have been coming on and off since we started buying things on line here.  Furniture, curtains (those neat black out ones that help insulate, too - omg they're great), sheets, Aria's new mattress and mattress protector, the dog crate, the exercise machine (which really was a super great deal and we all use it a lot! - which is great), the webcam (which was worth every cent cuz we can stay in touch with our friends in Germany now and also I will be using today for ASL practice!), etc etc etc.....

I'm just tired of all the packages.  bleeeegh....  When the violin repair is done ... and the bookshelves are bought and get here... I don't wanna get any more packages for a few months lol....   Then I guess we'll be looking for a new bed.

I wish there were more places locally with the things we need (*coughs and want*) lol  I can't say I "needed" to repair my violin... and I can't say we "needed" EVERYTHING we have gotten from on line... but most of it we did...   Locally, there was a place that sold mattresses and their cheapest mattress was over 500$ and I didn't think it was worth even half that!  So, I'd found a futon mattress on line for 100$!!!!  It's comfy and works great for Aria!

Anyway, it's snowing here again!  YAY.  It's so nice to look at lol... I'm so not shoveling it this time.  I'm still hurting from the last time I shoveled it on Friday.  (or was it Thursday... )  I kinda wish I would shovel it, though.  Good work out.  Sadly, I think my back will kill me if I attempt it.  We can't have a dead Taura now can we?  ... then again... think of all the sleep.....

This math website that Aria is using is great... It's a relief to have her more interested in her studies again, rather than fighting and resisting every step of the way.

I am immensely disappointed in this varnish I'd seen.  I inquired about it because I saw cracks all over the sample pics.  The reply back was "these cracks are all over and make the instrument look like an antique..."  O.O  .... seriously... they make varnish that PURPOSELY cracks?????  WTF are they thinking?  What are they smoking?  They need to get off the bad stuff! SHEESH... how annoying.   I shouldn't let it bother me, but for some reason it just does!  NO one wants cracks on their instrument!  Especially a new one or one they're refurbishing!  If it's cracked now, how is it supposed to hold up to time?  >.<  people just don't think....

I'm tired today, but a lil less than I was yesterday.  I kinda still want a nap, though....

I have more laundry to finish up, then I need to con help to fold it all...

Hmm... think that's all I have to say for now ....

On line Journal, eh?

So, why not... I guess I'll give this a go.

Hello!  I've had many nick names over the years, but I prefer Taura :)  I'm good with Bubblie, too. :)

I'm a homeschooling mother of one VERY willful child who has made it a life's goal to try all threads of my patience.  :)

We're currently trying an on line math program to which I had to subscribe to allow Aria to use with unlimited time.  I figured, it wouldn't hurt to try it for one month.

I'm struggling with keeping her motivated in general.  We come back to this every year - sometimes 2-3 times a year lol....   I shouldn't be surprised, but DAMN it's times like these that I think "UGH Public school would be SO MUCH EASIER!!!!!!"... Then I remember why public school would be bad ... because it's so much easier...   It's like falling into a trap of laziness.  You put your kids in public school and then you get sucked into the ease of it.  You're no longer responsible for them for a little more than half their waking hours!  You only have to make sure they eat before and after school , do their homework, bathe, brush teeth and get them in bed for school the next day.  Rinse, repeat.  Weekends, you shove them outside to play or turn on the TV to keep them out of your hair.

In school, they are told to keep quiet and for most of the day sit and focus on their school work.  Day in and day out... school work... and disruptions, ... exposure to diseases....  Bullies, peer pressure, drugs, guns, theft,  teen age pregnancy, STDs  - and watching only the most extreme cases get punished.

After our move, I was considering putting Aria in public school here, but then I was told it was the second worst school in the whole state.  And so, we homeschool still to this day.  I'm a little grayer... I have a big bottle of asprin and some tylenol ...   I'm now drinking coffee once in a while, too.  Actually, Will calls it a little bit of coffee with my creamer.  What can I say? I don't generally like coffee.  Coffee Icecream... yum... Black coffee... all bitter.. yuk... I'm a milk chocolate kinda gal, too, so ya...   Dark Chocolate is only if I'm desperate.

I am an animal lover!  I .. LOVE ... animals.  Almost all kinds I'm rather fond of.  I don't care to be killed by one, so no, I don't go near the lethal ones :).

Sadly, I will never do animal rescue again.  It was too sad and frustrating for me to handle.  We had to have one put down for a terminal illness, and we weren't able to adopt the bulk of the animals out.  Keeping them all just wasn't working.  They wound up going to other shelters ....  It still bothers me and I prefer not to talk about it much.  Other than to say, I wish people gave animals more consideration and took better care of them and didn't dump them off when the reality of being a pet owner set in.

I have a little white, orange and peach shadow.  I hand raised her.  She used to be white with flame point markings and it wasn't until last year that I realized that she REALLY darkened with age!  She's more peach than white now, the flame point markings are darker orange.  She's still cross eyed, though, and has trouble seeing.  I take good care of her (like all of our animals) and she's happy (like all of our animals lol).  They're a GREAT source of stress relief!

I ... LOVE .... music.  I can't emphasize that enough!  I love listening to it, I love singing and singing along with music, I love playing instruments, and I recently learned that I REALLY REALLY love repairing violins lol..   I'm having fun with it.  I can totally see myself getting other old violins and refurbishing them and reselling them.  I guess we'll see :)  I need a lot more training, though.  The research has been very interesting!  :)

I like loads of various arts, crafts, etc.  I with I had time and energy for more, but I try to squeeze projects in here and there.

I think that's all for now... I am so tired.  :) Not enough sleep + too much work = zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
